Sunrise Manor Adult Daycare began operating in 1998 on a start-up grant for developing a model adult day care program in Kentucky. Since it began operation as a social model, it has grown into a seperate building and has added Home and Community-Based Waiver Medicaid Health model clients. The program serves clients in Larue County and the fringes of connecting counties. Transportation is furnished for social model clients. Other methods of transportation are used for medical model clients. The program offers socialization, nutritional support, medical supervision and creative stimulation for older adults as they age in place in their homes. This level of care at Sunrise also serves as the beginning point for many clients who transition in time into the nursing home for continued care. The benefit offered by familiarity with the nursing home through contact and programs shared with the adult day care program is immeasurable in helping clients make the move into long-term care more comfortable and less traumatic.
